I don't disagree with you about Texas's view on Houston.

However, does Texas want another power conference (or even conferences) to have a member located within the state? Regardless if Texas decides to remain in the Big XII or join the ACC, Big Ten, or Pac-12, there is a possibility that all the power conferences could have at least 1 member from the state of Texas. Even though Texas may be the top dog within the state, I am not sure it is truly ready or even wants to embrace competition within the state.
